Introduction
Connect with the Spatial and Genome Technologies Core, as well as vendors and your peers, on third Thursdays and First Fridays.
Third Thursdays: Vendor Seminar Series
Join us for our monthly seminar series highlighting cutting-edge technologies and research solutions in single-cell and spatial biology. Each session runs from 2:00–3:00 pm and includes opportunities for in-person or virtual attendance (email mleone@uic.edu for a virtual link).
Third Thursdays Seminars
First Fridays eLearning: Single Cell Success Series
This three-part series will guide researchers through the essential concepts, workflows, and practical steps for successful scRNAseq experiments. Each session includes expert guidance, a short quiz, and Q&A.
October – From Sample to Data: Getting Started with scRNAseq
Single cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) is a powerful tool for uncovering cellular diversity and understanding complex biological systems. This session covers key considerations for getting started, including selecting and handling samples and understanding workflows that generate high-quality data, helping researchers move confidently from sample to data.
November – From Question to Assay: Choosing the Right scRNAseq Approach
Selecting the right scRNA-seq assay is critical for experimental success. This session explores polyA- and probe-based methods, singleplex vs. multiplex designs, and strategies for integrating surface protein measurements and multiome approaches, ensuring the assay matches the research question.
December – From Samples to Insights: Preparing and Processing scRNAseq Data
Successful scRNA-seq experiments depend on proper sample preparation and data management. This session covers fresh and fixed samples (cells or nuclei), consultation with the SGT Core, and key data processing steps, including storage, transfer, alignment, and count matrix generation.
